Field Engineer / Technical Account Manager - Boston Area

The Boston Area FE/TAM is responsible for assigned accounts in the Greater New England area. The FE/TAM represents Verari to our customers as the post-sales technical expert on Verari’s products, and their best practices for their use. The FE/TAM also conducts all installation and on-site repairs of Verari hardware based upon the customer’s Service Agreement. The FE/TAM collaborates with customers to identify opportunities that best leverage Verari’s technologies in order to meet and exceed customers’ expectations. This is accomplished in collaboration with the Account Team by participating in face-to-face customer planning meetings, product installation, periodic site visits, and troubleshooting/maintenance activities. Account ownership and communication skills are vital for the FE/TAM in order to build relationships that allow them to partner with our customers, instead of just managing a post-sales customer/vendor relationship. Being able to be available 24x7 to participate in on-call/duty tech rotation to support all Verari accounts or address critical customer issues in a timely manner is required, as is the ability to travel on short notice (same day/next flight out). The FE/TAM must be a self-starter that can work in an environment with remote supervision, and will also participate in internal Verari projects or other duties as assigned by his or her manager.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:

• Proactive Account Ownership/Interaction Skills
• Excellent Communication Skills (Written, Oral, and Presentation) in English, other languages a plus.
• Able to Organize and Analyze data using MS Windows Office Suite
• Able to Identify and Understanding of Customers Needs
• Knowledge of Data Storage Hardware Technologies
• Knowledge of Data Storage Virtualization Systems and HSM Software
• Administrator Level Skills and Knowledge of Redhat Linux OS
• Administrator Level Skills and Knowledge of Windows Server and Desktop Class OS
• Able to create scripts to automate deployments of firmware or other tasks
• The ability to use and configure VMWare Virtualization Technologies (EXSi)
• Knowledge of web based access technologies
• Have solid general computer hardware troubleshooting skills
• Able to troubleshoot software issues on Verari hardware
• Have solid research and reproduction testing skills
• Able to travel on short notice and have a Passport or equivalent

Education:

A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from a four-year college or university in an engineering discipline or a minimum of two years related experience and/or training with a combination of education and experience.
 

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent standing, sitting, walking, handling, feeling with hands, reaching with arms.
• Regular communication (hearing/speaking) and reporting through computer documentation.
• Occasionally lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to use hand tools and test equipment.
• Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling.
• Occasional risk of electrical shock if safety procedures are not followed.
• Vision requirements include: close, distant, color perception, peripheral, depth and ability to focus.
• Noise conditions are moderate.
