VS4000
The VS4000 series is available in two models: the
VS4200 with 2GB of cache 4 host ports and support for mixed SATA and Fibre
Channel drives and the VS4400 with 4GB of cache, 8 host ports and support
for mixed SATA and Fibre Channel drives.
Each of the two models can scale to 56 terabytes of physical disk capacity
using 6 VSEM storage expansion modules. The two VS4000 models use the latest
in storage networking technology to provide an end-to-end 4Gb/s Fibre Channel
solution. As part of the Verari Systems VS storage systems family, the VS4000
series uses the same common storage management software and highly available
hardware design as the high performance VS7000 providing enterprise class
capabilities but at a much lower price point.
Both the VS4200 and VS4400 support the intermixing of SATA and Fibre Channel
drives within the same drive expansion module. This drive mixing support
enables a single 3U VS4200 or VS4400 storage system to satisfy primary and
secondary storage requirements in the most cost effective manner
The compact chassis design of the VS4000 series saves space and reduces
power and cooling requirements. Housing 2GB or 4GB of cache, dual RAID controllers,
four or eight 4Gb/s host ports, redundant power, cooling and battery backup
and support for up to 16 drives and 8TB of capacity in a 3U RoHS compliant
chassis provides a small footprint with massive scalability.
The modular design of the VS4000 series allows online capacity expansion,
lowering acquisition and expansion costs. Purchase what is needed only when
it’s needed and match the storage to the application.
Up to six 16-drive VSEM expansion modules can be added to the initial controller’s
16 drive bays, scaling up to 112 drives. The Verari Systems’ VS4000 series
storage system is an affordable entry point and avoids over-configuration
without sacrificing future scalability.
Previous Verari Systems VS storage systems can be upgraded data-in-place
to the new, higher performance VS4000 series. In the event that future application
requirements demand greater performance or scalability the VS4000 series
can be upgraded to the much more powerful VS7000.
Like the other members of Verari Systems VS storage family, the VS4000 series
is managed via SANtricityTM Storage Manager software. SANtricity lowers
storage management costs with centralized set up and control, run anywhere
flexibility, an intuitive GUI and fully integrated optional partitioning
and replication features. SANtricity software improves storage utilization
through configuration flexibility, incremental capacity and performance
scaling, storage consolidation and capacity efficient data replication.
